What Are SEAI Grants in Ireland?

The Windows and Doors Grant, along with several other sustainable energy grants, is managed by the Sustainability Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI).

The SEAI Ireland “works with householders, businesses, communities and government to create a cleaner energy future”, doing so by offering incentives such as the windows and doors grant, an attic insulation grant and a heat pump grant among others. These grants help homeowners reduce their energy costs and their carbon footprint, in turn helping Ireland achieve a more sustainable future.

Why Upgrading Windows and Doors Matters

The SEAI grant for windows and doors is great for many reasons. It could be that you’ve wanted to upgrade your windows and doors for quite a while, or that you’ve noticed a recent hike in your energy bills.

Whatever the reason, the grant offers four major benefits for every applicant:

  • Reduced heat loss: Modern uPVC, aluminium and composite systems are designed with advanced sealing, multi-layer glazing and improved frame construction that work together to reduce heat loss.
  • Lower energy bills: As a result of better glazing and sealing, your home will lose less heat, sparing you the need to have your heating on so often.

  • Increased property value: A modern windows and doors upgrade can add to your home’s value. As well as an increased BER rating, there’s also the aesthetic appeal to consider.
